this dress

Dress (XS) | Mango
Shoes | Zara
Bag | Balenciaga
Watch | Emporio Armani
Necklace | Agnès b

Found these old photos from last year's Chinese New Year! This was from the first day of CNY last year and as usual, my maternal relatives gathered at one of my uncle's place and we all have a good lunch together. As usual, CNY outfit planning is probably the toughest for me because no black allowed when visiting relatives (except shoes because we all take them off when entering the house anyway). Was surprised how well this Mango dress fitted me (Only alteration I needed to do was to shorten it), and I love the colour too! This year's outfit planning has been pretty challenging too....most of my new clothes are black!

All Black, Day to Night

Wrap dress (UK2) | ASOS Petite
Shoes | All Saints
Leather jacket | Istanbul
Bag | Givenchy
Necklace | ShopClementine

This crepe wrap dress fits like a dream, but it's really thin though - seamless underwear (preferably black to nude) is a must! It's great for work but also dressy enough for dinner. It's literally a wrap dress (with just one button at the waist, and strings, so it's always a bit of a risk when it's super windy out!

Workwear | Printed Wrap Dress

Dress (UK8, tapered) |  Marks & Spencer Petite
Heels | Zara
Coat (13-14 years old) | Gingersnaps  (similar here)

Shall we take a moment to celebrate this gorgeous fabric.

I first spotted this gem in the M&S in Nottingham last winter. As usual, I was overjoyed to find that they have a petite section (sucks, none in SG as far as I know) and this dress just called out to me. It has one of the prettiest print I've ever seen and it's in a wrap style (which I'm sure you guys know I  love by now) but UK6 was no longer in stock. I was devastated and left M&S without it that day. Fast forward a few weeks later, I spotted this dress in one of London's M&S again but the smallest size they had left was UK8 too. I was so disappointed but gave it a try anyway because it was in the sale (50%) and I really liked it. Surprisingly, it was not as loose on me as I thought it would be. The sleeves fitted alright and so did the chest, only the waist was loose, and it was rather long on me. I decided to get it and have it tapered - BEST DECISION EVER. I had darts added to the waist area at the back of the dress, length shortened and sleeves tapered. It's now one of my favourite easy dresses to wear to work when I feel like I should be wearing some colour!

Smocked

Blue smocked dress (UK2) | ASOS Petite (Love this and this less 'junior' looking versions!)
Leather jacket | Giordano Ladies
Heels | All Saints
Bag | Whistles
Striped tee & rectangle necklace | ASOS
Watch | Nixon

Wore this comfy smocked dress out for a casual day out. It's borderline junior but thank god it fits pretty well. I'm pretty sure I can still get away with paying student fare on the bus if I wear this dress with sneakers or flats. I now realise that smock dresses are not suitable for me even though they look cute af (precisely why) and is super comfy.

Had some amazzzzinnngggggg lobster and crab (and other seafood) for dinner that week too. (Travelled far for it, better be good).  The interior design was lovely - I adored the high ceilings and hanging lights. Reminds me a little of Burger and Lobster in London with the plastic napkins/aprons thing. We had the buttered garlic lobster and buttered black pepper crab with mixed seafood bags and everything was so good!!

S I M P L E S I L H O U E T T E

Black skater dress | Club L via ASOS
Boots | Blink via ASOS
Wool hat | H&M
Bag | Furla

Wore this fuss-free outfit for a simple dinner. This Club L dress fits me really well and I didn't need to alter it at all! (I bought UK4). It's super soft and really comfy. It's a simple silhouette and the hat makes the outfit a lot more chic. I think I have a thing for wearing an all black outfit with a touch of red haha. I've been incorporating pops of colour in my outfits and red seems to be one of the colours I wear with black a lot! This fit and flare shape is very flattering for many and it is such an easy dress to wear.
Thanks for reading!
